Following the signing of the Terms of Negotiation with the Crown in August 2012, the Trust entered into formal settlement negotiations with the Crown.  The Trust worked with the two Rangitāne Rūnanga in developing its settlement aspirations to guide those negotiations and an Agreement in Principle (“AIP”) was signed on 28 March 2014.

The AIP set out a broad redress package for the settlement of the Rangitāne o Wairarapa and Rangitāne o Tamaki Nui-ā-Rua historical Treaty claims.  That AIP was translated into an initialled Deed of Settlement with the Crown on 11 May 2016, and signed on 6 July 2017 at Mākirikiri Marae.

The Agreement in Principle and Deed of Settlement can be found here.

A summary of the redress included in the redress package for Rangitāne o Wairarapa and Rangitāne o Tamaki nui-ā-Rua can be downloaded here.

We acknowledge all those who have given their time, energy and resources to assisting with achieving these milestones for Rangitāne.  The contribution of all Rangitāne members involved has been invaluable and that must be acknowledged.
